About Virginia Moore

Headshot Celebrant VA Moore

Philosophy

As we journey through our lives we come to many crossroads, and we pass many milestones. It is at these places that ceremony helps us to transition to the next stage of life with a deeper connection to what we believe is meaningful and real.

As a celebrant I am dedicated to helping you have your values represented in your ceremony. Whether you feel you are spiritual, religious, or a humanist with an appreciation for our earth, I can help you create a ceremony that will emphasize whatever is most important to you.

Your ceremony should reflect your innermost self, your heart, your soul and your values. I create and perform beautiful ceremonies that are unique and personalized. It is my job to listen to you and to help you create a ceremony that will be meaningful and memorable for you and your guests. I am comfortable with religious, secular, interfaith or pagan ceremonies. I help you find the readings, rituals and vows to help you create a ceremony you will remember for years to come.

Roots & Background

I grew up in Westchester County NY and was raised a Roman Catholic. I loved the rituals of the mass but not the dogma. I graduated from Boston University with a degree in Special Education, Psychology and Religion. I studied Yoga, and eastern philosophy and now consider myself spiritual not religious. I meditate and practice Tai Chi daily with my husband of many years.

The first wedding I performed was in 1976, soon after my completion of an All Faiths Ministry program. Before becoming a full time Celebrant I worked with people with disabilities, and later on with people living with HIV and AIDS. Since graduating from the Celebrant USA Foundation in 2004 I have written and performed hundreds of wedding ceremonies from very formal multicultural ceremonies to small backyard and simple elopements.

I am totally comfortable with same sex ceremonies and treat them as any other. Each ceremony is as different as the people getting married. This is the one time in your life when it is, and should be, all about you.

Creative Ceremonies

As a celebrant I am dedicated to helping you have your values represented in your ceremony. Whether you feel you are spiritual, religious, or a humanist with an appreciation for our earth, I can help you create a ceremony that will emphasize whatever is most important to you as you make the transition to a new stage in your life.

Your ceremony should reflect your innermost self, your heart, your soul and your values. I create and perform beautiful ceremonies that are unique and personalized. It is my job to listen to you and to help you create a ceremony that will be meaningful and mindful of whatever transition you are celebrating. You may wish to focus on a cultural tradition, religion or have a secular, interfaith, or multilingual ceremony. I help you find the readings, rituals and vows to help reflect who you are and what you wish to say to your community.

The ceremonies I specialize in are elopements, weddings, renewal of vows, welcoming baby and adoption ceremonies, end-of-life tributes/memorials, coming-of-age ceremonies, divorce ceremonies, house warming and wise woman ceremonies.
